Win Prizes in our ART Contest - Deadline May 15

BTCA Art Contest – Submissions Deadline May 15, 2012

We are excited to offer this opportunity to all Banff Trail Residents and BTCA Members. Send us your photographs, drawings, sketches or paintings depicting life in Banff Trail. We will publish the winning images on Note Cards used by BTCA to mark special occasions, volunteer recognition, say “thank you” and offer condolences.

• First Prize is $200 plus a 2 year membership with BTCA
• Second Prize is $100
• Third Prize is $50

In addition, we will publish all of the winning images in upcoming issues of the Banff Trail Howler and on our website.

Email your photograph or scan of your artwork. Please include your name, address and phone number.

Prize winning entries will be selected by a committee of Banff Trail Residents and prizes will be presented at the BTCA Annual General Meeting in June.

April 20th Global Youth Summit

Youth ages 14 – 18 are invited to participate.
WHO: YMCA, the Canadian Red Cross and SCREAM (part of the Global Youth Summit)
WHAT: The Global Youth Summit is a local initiative created by youth for youth. Workshops, small-group dialogue, and participatory learning will help students gain skills and relations to impact their local community and their world. This year’s theme will be “Start Your Momentum.” We want to encompass the idea of taking action and getting involved should begin right now. There isn’t time to wait for the future.
WHEN: April 20
3 p.m. – 9 p.m at the Jubilee Auditorium

Community Clean up at Triwood April 28

It’s that time of year again to clean out your garage, basement, house and yards. The 4th Elks Triwood Scouts are pleased to host the annual community clean-up on Saturday April 28 at the Triwood Community Centre: 2244 CHICOUTIMI DR NW, T2L 0W1 (Northmount Drive and 19th Street).

We accept: scrap metals, electronics, appliances (no refrigeration equipment unless purged and tagged), household hazardous waste (used oil, propane cylinders, paints, etc.), tires, lawn mowers and small engines (fluids drained), bed frames, wood decks/fences, etc.

NO HOUSEHOLD DOMESTIC WASTE PLEASE!

Cub Scouts and Venture Scouts will be offering Beaver Tail pastries for financial donations to offset the costs of a week-long Venture light-weight back country camp this summer as-well as the Cub Scouts year-end camp this May.

Something special on Monday April 2nd – Coffee House Monday

Enjoy coffee, tea and lights snacks while listening to the musicians and singers participating in the Monday Night Music Jam on April 2nd from 7:30 – 9 pm. It’s free!

And on April 9, 16, 23 and 30, the Monday Night Music Jam carries on as usual.

Everyone is welcome to come out and join in.
